Easter Sunday; April 17, 2022: Luke 23:50-24:12.
Easter Joy! Come, join the great “Alleluia!” that breaks forth on Easter morning. This is the heart of our faith: the resurrection of Jesus. Luke’s telling of the story is so tactile and sensory: the rough touch of linen, the cold, hard surface of stone, the sweet, sad smell of burial spices, the bright light of angels announcing, “He has risen.” In their fear and grief, the disciples considered the women’s testimony “an idle tale.” Let’s lean into the tangible good news of Life and dismiss our vaporous fear. This is no idle tale! It is truth and grace!
