KCC hosts 2nd annual “Free-cycle” event for URI students

It is move-in weekend at URI and the village of Kingston is buzzing with activity! In 2019, we began a tradition that we were pleased to resume again this year, our “FREE-cycle event”. Inspired by “the freecycle.org movement”, many of our church members searched their homes for items that might make the academic year a little more comfortable for incoming URI students. The church lawn was scattered with chairs, side tables, lamps, microwaves, laundry baskets, kitchen items and desk/office gear. Our space is a little clearer and our hearts a bit more full.

On Sunday morning, many students walked or drove past the church, noticed our signs, and wandered up, expecting a yard sale. We loved watching their smiles when they realized everything was free! It was so nice to welcome them to town, hearing where they were from, learning their majors and sending them off to begin another exciting year on campus with a gift that makes their dorm or apartment feel a little more like home. May you have a blessed and successful semester, URI!
